SMALL WORLD
Ink, paint, found world globe lamp, 2007
There are certain problems arise when wrapping a 2D plane around a 3D object. On this globe the Derwent divides Hobart into East and West islands. The map ranges from completely accurate, to approximate, to wildly inaccurate. Some suburbs are complete while others collapse into each other. It might come as a surprise to residents of Taroona to find themselves neighbours with the good folk of Rosetta. And of course, Mount Wellington is way too big to fit on a little map like this one.
Hobart is complete, discrete and illuminating.
