MAPPING

Maps describe physical relationships in the environment, providing an overview of place.  They are both a guide through space and record of a time.  They vary in scale, detail, form, accuracy and intent.  People use maps to understand and find their way in the world.  I have always been fascinated by maps, studying shapes on the page to make sense of my terrain.

These artworks are some of the collection of maps I’ve created over the previous ten years.  Some realistically plot my journeys while others depict journeys through imagined places.  Some are contemplations on the impact that the built environment has on the landscape, others draw comparisons between the external and internal environments of the body.
